How hard is it to change pickups on a guitar?

i have an old guitar that clearly needs the pickups changed. how hard is it to change them and what do u need to do? who makes a good quality pickup? i have a stratocaster

according to my guitarist, it takes 4 hours for you to change pickups if you dont have proper equipment.  He advice you to buy SEYMOUR DUNCAN guitar pickup, a high quality one but quite expensive
