Not too hard. You can surely find something to add to your gas tank. That is what I do. Buy a bottle at your local auto parts store and run your gas tank down to empty, dump the bottle in the tank and fill up with gas. Try to use all the gas in the tank before filling up again.

Considering the age of your truck I assume it is high mileage and you are trying to repair a hard start or poor performance issue?  If that is the case cleaning your injectors is not going to help, regular Dextron ATF in the fuel will clean the injectors as well as any commercially available cleaners but I still doubt it will help.  The issue you most like have is the injectors are just wearing out, a new set is expensive but it should make your truck run llike new again.  Ford parts are really expensive but I have bought some on-line from 5.0Motorsports that cost half what Ford ones do and had a better warranty, that or there are always injectors for sale on E-bay.

Given the very high fuel pressure of diesels you should have a diesel shop do the work, nothing over the counter has enough pressure.

thats very tricky. most times you are better off sending them out to a diesel performance shop. pending on contamination u might be betteroff getting a set of aftermaket performance injectors. never had much luck cleaning them. this all adds up to keeping your fuel filter changed regularly
