How hard is it to convert a for 9' rear end to chevy?

i have a ford 9' rear end and i was wondering how hard it is to convert it to a chevy to fit my 1984 camaro and how much it would cost to do myself and how much it would cost to have done

IT CAN BE DONE WITH EASE.. I DID ONE LAST NIGHT ! IT WAS MADE FOR THE CAR AND IT WAS PERFECT FIT ! IT WAS NOT A" CUSTOM MADE" PIECE EITHER . READY TO GO ! QUICK-PERFORMANCE HAS THEM STARTING AT 1400, MINE WAS 2200 SHIPPED WITH 4.88 spool,35 spline axles from moser, strange third member and the drum brakes.. complete ! i also got the thicker case (housing) very easy this way. since i did not tub it or make any mods to the fit, it was fast and fit great.. THE SAME REAREND FROM CURRIE (WITH THIER AXLES ) WAS OVER 3500.00. you can do yours if you like but, it would better, easier and cheaper to sell yours and buy the one that will bolt in to your car.. no cutting and axle making.. ready to go ! i changed mine alone in under 3 hours with the brake lines ... easy !! you will have to have a driveshaft made for this exchange to the ford rearend.. that is forsure... good luck with it

It involves width. spring and shock locations, brakes, and installing everything.

If you have to narrow it that will cost more. To get it fully set up correctly should be under $2000 installed unless you want a lot of trick pieces like a 4 link, disc brakes, etc. then it will be more.

Your better off going with a Strange or Moser 12 bolt rear. The 9 inch is stronger but unless your putting 1200+ rwhp. it is not needed. The 9 inch is heavier and harder to turn so it will be robbing hp. You can get a complete 12 bolt rear with all the upgraded goodies for around $2000 shipped.
