Just bought a 66 beetle and would like to change the oil bath air cleaner to paper air cleaner. Should I? How hard is it to convert (or is it hard at all)?

  1. you can just put on a air cleaner from a late model

  2. Its really easy, just have to find a paper filter to fit.

  3. The others are right, but why? You will always be buying air filters for the rest of your life- The oil bath works great even if you forget to service it for a while. I drove one around austrailia and never had a problem till I screwed with the air filter--and then I had to get an engine  in Katherine--Google earth that!!!--- Just don't throw the old one away as if you wish to sell it, the new owner may want it back to factory original.

  4. oil bath is better, Specially if Preheated air thermostat still works an it get cold and wet where you live.

  5. Just throw out the old and get a new (fitting) paper filter.

    simple.

    Good Luck...
