  1. Hello,

The highway is nice but driving thru the city is not fun.  Parking will be impossible and you may be required to have a city driving sticker on your car in order to drive in the city.  You must have one of these stickers to drive in Rome and I believe most of the major cities in Italy are the same way.  It will take the better part of 5-6 hours to drive from Florence to Assisi.  You might want to take the train instead.  It will be easier, faster and cost less.  You can check out trenitalia.com for prices and schedules if you would like.

  3. Its not hard to drive maybe 1 to 2 hours depending on how you go I just went there are few weekends ago. From Florence the roads are not bad. When you get to assisi you can't drive in the city itself unless you have a hotel then you drop your bags and take your car out of the city or if you live in the city. They have a parking lot outside the city and you just walk thought the city. You don't want to drive in Assisi the roads are really narrow and its a big hill and its hard to claim with a stick stift car!! The parking lot is cheap (I think is was under E10 for all day) and safe they have police around all the time.
