How hard is it to get a scholarship to college via water polo?

like what is all the info that i need to know before i even START considering it and get my hopes up.

  1. If you want to know the truth. If you live anywhere but cali. Forget about it. It is not worth it. Even if you do live in california you really have to have a lot going for you and then you might get a partial scholarship if your lucky.


  2. Its definately tough...  I would try really hard for a academic scholorship and play on their team

Pretty d**n hard, since there are so few DI colleges that have polo.  Furthermore, each DI school is only allowed to give 4.5 full scholarships to water polo players.  You gotta be the best of the best to be considered.  Full scholarships are reserved for the phenoms.  Partial scholarships are much more common, but still very hard to get.  That said, while you may not get a scholarship, there are a lot of schools out there with competitive club programs, so you'll be able to play somewhere if you want to.
