  1. stanford??cmon what do you wanna be a trucker when you grow up  get some real dreams already

  2. Stanford is probably the best all around college (academics and athletics)

    You have the grades.

Are they in AP or honors classes?

What other activities do you do?  Sports, clubs, any awards?

I know a kid who had a straight 5 GPA in AP and honors classes but didn't make it in to Stanford or Harvard because he didn't do any other activities....

    Good luck!

  3. It is harder to get into Stanford than it is to get into Harvard.

If you keep getting great grades and can get a really high SAT score, then you will be qualified for Stanford and will get into some great schools.  However, Stanford probably rejects nine or ten qualified students for every one they accept.  So -- I say you have about a 10% chance of getting in.

  4. I'd put Stanford and Harvard as equally hard to get into.

The GPA is just the start. If you can stay at the very top of your high school class taking the hardest courses and add a 2250 plus SAT score when the time comes, you've covered what you need to stats wise. Then comes the critical part that separates the majority of kids who don't get in with those stats from the small minority that do--accomplishments outside of the classroom.

Successful candidates at Stanford and Harvard stand out from the crowd of high achievers by achieving excellence in a passion they pursue to the highest levels. They are national math champs, have won international science competitions, play in major city orchestras, have had books published and their art shown in major galleries. Of course being an excellent athlete recruited by one of their teams works too.

Look around at the smartest most accomplished people you know with the highest grades and scores from all over the world, less than 10% of them will get into one of the most elite colleges.
