How hard is it to have a baby and a car with only 2 doors?

We are about to buy two new cars soon before this baby comes and I really want a mustang. All the new mustang's only have 2 doors. Is it really that hard to handle the baby with just 2 doors? I know people do it all the time but how hard is it really?

Also, does anyone know if mustang's have automatics? I'm only finding Manual mustang's.

  1. As far as I know all mustangs are manuals..I wanted one too (before kids) but that part always stopped me...I hate manuals!

And the 2 door thing REALLY sucks with babies. especially if you are using a infant carrier/carseat. It can kill your back!

  2. it would be very hard giving birth to a car. no matter how many doors it may have!!!

I have a car seat that is pretty bulky. I could put it in the back of a two door car but it would suck. back breaker you know.

manual is the way to go. automatics are c**p.

  3. 2 doors is awful before they turn one.  It kills your back, and it takes ages to get them in and out of the car.  Even if you use a convertible car seat, one that can go backwards or forwards, then you have to wrestle the baby in and out.  After they turn one and face forward and their seat stays in the car all the time its not so bad.  I guess if you are willing to put up with it for the six months that it is really gonna hurt (after the baby starts getting heavier to lift) then go for it.  I mean you are gonna have your car for at least a few years right? might as well have what you want...

EDIT:  Manual is much more fun to drive, but it is awfully hard to make a bottle and hold it for baby and drive a stick at the same time.  no no automatics were made for mommies. lol

  4. i had an eclipse with my first son. and its not so bad once you get the car seat in just as long as you keep it in. I also realized that its easier if you take the top down( that is if you get a convertible)

and yes mustangs come in automatics, you might want to go to a ford dealership, because if they dont have it they can always find one for you too. good luck

  5. its not that hard, my BF has a 2 door car, its a pain at first having to climb in the back, but you get used to it. my girl is 12mos now, and its prob better, cos she is fiddling with everything so at least i know she wouldnt be able to fiddle with the door.

  6. i think it is slightly difficult, but if you don't have a back problem- you'll be ok. Usually that baby car seats come with a base and they will ALWAYS stay put - you only snap/ drop the seat in, no messing with the seatbelt all the time. As they grow older you can put those bigger seats- but by then your kid will be walking making it easier for you. I have a scion tc and a little one that will be 3 this december.... So its not bad... i was close to trading it for a 4-door but the reality is that he will be out of the booster seat before i know it and I LOVE MY CAR so i say go for the mustang-

One thing though, keep in mind the size of the stoller  you have and how much trunk space you have...

  7. It is a bit hard when they are in the rear facing ones although my baby is in the front most of the time (no front airbag)

Most people drive manual cars in the UK anyway.

  8. I had a two door car when my son was born and it was very hard to get the car seat in and out. If i was you i'd do all i could to get a car with back doors.

I don't know anything about mustangs. Sorry.

  9. i would not get a 2 door and have a baby. the next car i get will be a family car!! the present car is really low so even if it does have 5 doors, it's quite hard to get the car seat in. if you want something comfortable then look for a car where the seats are a bit higher. imagine having to put the seat in and to strap it in. i'd say that would be the most comfortable thing.

and manuals aren't hard at all once you get the hang of it which only takes a few minutes.

  10. mustangs come in both automatic and manual its just rare to find the newer models being automatic.

and its very difficult to get baby in and out of a 2 door car... and with them being smaller than 4 door sedans they have less room

i tried getting my 2 month old baby in and out of my moms mustang it was difficult and my bf has a mustang cobra that we go places in and its difficult with the room issue cuz i sit in back wit her and 5'10 so if your tall and planning on sitting back with her when your with your significant other.. i wouldnt reccomend it... and i think its safer to have a four door neways
