  1. I just put on in myself it does not take long and there should be directions in with the tub. Your hardest part will be putting the wall board up not the tub in. Make sure that you have all of your plumbing fixed right and that there are no leaks before you cover everything up.

  2. It's not that hard. If you have a cast iron tub-it will be a little heavy so - lay a towel over the edge and then hit it with a 12lb sledge hammer. Make sure the towel is always over the tub before you hit it with sledge hammer. Pcs of cast iron can be sharp so wear gloves and safety glasses, long sleeves.

Go under tub in crawl space or basement and unhook the tub drain. You need not disturb the tub hot/cold faucets as they are above the tub.

If you have an acrylic (plastic) tub, just cut it up with a sawzall.

I would take off about 8" of the surronding wall tile above the tub on all 3 sides.

When  you get your new tub-install the drain assembly in it - get some help in setting the new tub into position. Check underneath as you are setting the tub and see if drain will line up ok. If so go ahead and connect the drain assembly back in place. Shim tub so it does not rock back and forth.

Now cut a pc. of 1" rigid styrofoam to lay down in the bottom of the tub and cut some other pcs to lay on rim of tub. This helps protect tub from scratches while you work on patching the tile or walls back above the lip of the tub.

    It's not worth $3,300.

You can do this with a litte help.

  3. YES u can! first is there two or 3 walls surrounds it?need to know that to tell you what to do!OK,take the height of the tub,how high do u want to step in and out?the avg height is 15 inch's. does it have a finished front side to it? u want to make a small wall for it,it will  probably be only 14 inch's 7/8 high.allow for the thickness of the tub.now if u can do the same al the way around it or put 2by4s along the other 3 walls.make sure there all the same height, level.when u dry run the tub check the front and back, left and right for level if not level shim it to right height,or raise up in back or side to get it level and mark it,move ur 2by4s to the right height.when it is all level and u have installed the hard ware and ur sure u wont have to take it out again, take it out and use liquid nail construction adhesive to secure it to ur 2by4s and small support wall.
