How hard is it to learn Portuguese if you already know a good deal of Spanish?

How far do you think I will get with a six week course, once a week, two hours per week?

  1. I'm spanish and this year in high school I'm gonna take Portuguese ..

    i hope that is not that hard,,and i dont fail it..

    but portuguese and spanish have many similarities so maybe we both can get through it without any problems.*


  2. You'll learn it pretty fast. Basically the speed at which you learn depends on how relevant to your everyday life are the things that you study.  You'll need to study things that you now you'll be using in conversations with other portuguese speakers. There's no use in studying things you wouldn't use. It's just a waste of time.

    Here's a website (it's for Spanish) but it will show you all of the most common conversations people talk about. And it has movies to get used to training your ears to their accents.

  3. If you are fluent in spanish, you should already know a great deal of portuguese.  There are just a few gramatical differences, which can get a little confusing, but as for the actual speaking you'll have no problem with it.
