My boyfriend is a Canadian and im from England, and i was looking into different visas for me to come over to Canada. i dont believe i am a skilled worker (unfortunatley) and understand that it can possibly take up to three years even if i did have a job offer? i was looking into maybe spousal sponorship by him but we arent ready to get married yet and i dont want to go there on false information. I was curious to know if anyone has been in the same position and had any info?? thanks :)

  1. If you want to move here permanently, you can file for a permanent resident. I don't know the delays for England, you can go on the www.cic.gc.ca/ and somewhere they have a list of all the countries and the delays for treating the application.

But if it's speed you want, why not try to apply to a college or university and ask for a student visa ;).

  2. Greetings from Canada!

I emigrated here from the UK many years ago and at that time (1977) the whole process took about a year - from applying to actually coming here to live.

Now, that process takes much longer.  I have some friends who have just moved here and it took them almost three years from first applying, being interviewed, having the Medicals - all of it.

Have you been to Canada for a holiday or anything?  It is a great place to live and I have never regretted moving here.

I love it here so much I decided to build a website to encourage Travel and Tourism in the area of Southern Ontario where I live
