My girlfriend and I will be married sooner than we planned, and her family wants her to live closer to them. So in order to get their approval for marriage I have to move to Taiwan. I have some savings to find a place to live etc. But I still need to finish school. So is there any jobs that a native English speaking person with minimal Chinese and Japanese knowledge do in Taiwan?

BTW I am 25 years old now~

  1. dude you need a college degree to get a job in Taiwan.

cost of living is WAY less in Taipei than big cities of equal size in the States

but they also don't pay nearly as much as jobs in the States

also, companies in Taiwan always look for work experiences, without much of working experience I don't kno what kinda job you can get in Taiwan, maybe a bank?

yea i think your best shot would be at banks, but i dont kno doing what, given that you speak little Chinese.

well you can find much better options in HongKong I think, they got foreigners speaking no Chinese at all all over the place.

    finish college first

    why rush marrying?

  2. I am not sure how limited you will be since you're married...that does make a big difference.  You should be able to eventually apply as a citizen of Taiwan, but I hope you enjoy the military if you're thinking of doing that.  You would also have to give up your other citizenship.

Being a citizen means more opportunities for other jobs.  That is not something that will happen quickly, however.  Your jobs will be limited to a handful of areas.

For non-teaching jobs, you must have 2 years verifiable experience in what you're doing to be able to get an ARC.  Because of this, you may consider just finishing your degree, teaching here part time to keep some income, and just spend the rest of your time looking for a different job.  You might get lucky.

You need to finish school before you come over.  There's no real way to say you can easily find any job without doing that, married or not.

I would also consider that you really look at the reasons why your family wants your wife near and take those into serious consideration.  It is a much different culture here and many mothers-in-law try to take over and be the mother.  It does not always happen, but make sure the decision is what is best for you and your wife...not your in-laws.

  3. uhh i wouldn't even so to taiwan cause their econemy is like crashing. The people in taiwan are even trying to come to america you know? And this story said that there was this girl that worked for the company for free for 6 months and the company offered a job but only with $600 per month

  4. I am sorry to say that you will find it very difficult to find a good and legal job as an English teacher unless you have a degree from an accredited university.

I cannot recommend strongly enough that you finish your degree before going over.

I work for a large recruiting company in Vancouver Canada.  We can place qualified teachers at no expense to the applicant.  Please email me if I can be of any assistance once you have your degree.

  5. I am Taiwanese...

Hmm...you can find ENGLISH TEACHER...in cram school ...

but...maybe you can't find any job if you can't speak Taiwanese...

    ( because so many Foreigner...)

    Is your girlfriend Taiwanese ?

If I ... I will stay here( USA?)... with girlfriend and her family

( Hmm...sorry my English very poooooooor...)
