I'm thinking of getting a fish. I have a couple questions & if you could answer then it would be a great help(:

1. I want to get a fish like the one from finding nemo, (the dumb blue fish called Dora). What is that species?

2. The pet shop only sells boring goldfish. Where can I buy this tropical fish?

3. How much woudl this fish cost?

4. I heard that if you only have one fish you won't need a filter. Is this true?

5. What would I need to buy? (I would start off with a circle fish bowl not a tank).

6. How much would this all cost?

7. Are fish hard animals to take care of?

  1. fish are easy to take care of but i perfer a dog!!!!!!!!!!

  2. hahaha that fish frome finding nemo was a humbug damsel fish you can buy them in a salt water fish store they cost about 4.99$ the filter thing is true for fresh water fish how ever this is a salt water fish so you do need a filter you will need a filter for salt water fish a skimmer with oxygen salt and water a hydromyter sand coral live rock a heater and a few more things all i would say it costs like a 100 $ cuz salt water fish are complicated  fish are easy to take care of if they are fresh water if salt water its a haed ache.

PS: I DONT RECOMEND GETTING THIS FISH GET A NORMAL FRESH WATER FISH INSTED CUZ FOR ONE ALL YOU NEED IS A BOWL WITH WATER NOT ALL THAT THINGS YOU NEED FOR THAT OTHER ONE AND THERE ARE NICE COLORFUL FRESH WATER FISH YOU JUST NEED TO LOOK HARDER

  3. Firstly, fish are not hard to look after, however they need to be carefuly looked after, goldfish and other coldwater are easiest, then tropical and then marine.

However the idea you dont need a filter even for one fish is wrong wrong wrong. filters clean the water and provide air which is essential even for goldfish, imagine living in one small room, with no source of air or proper method of waste disposal, see? lol

Anther Wrong wrong wrong thing people get told about fish is the fish bowl, its too small, its like being in a room you can only step across twice, for your whole life, now couple this with not too much air and no toilet, yuck, not good eh? :D

the fish you want is a powder blue tang, i think, although it may go by different names. but that is besides the point, as it is a marine fish.

the things you need for a mariine fish is:

large tank, at least 80 litres ( the smaller the more difficult)

protien skimmer, which deals with salt and poo ect

filter and air pump,  obviously for air, and the filter to clean and provide correct bacteria for clean water

Heater to warm water to right temp, as well as thermometer to measure temp

UV light , for correct UV amounts for fish and coral.

Food, often frozen food like winkles as well as flake

    Fertilizer if u want coral

Salt, tonic salt to keep the right salt levels and an instrument that is used for measuring the salt level (gravity)

nitrate and ph testing kit to keep an eye on the levels

ph and nitrite/nitrate to change incorrect levels (depending on species kept)

special water purchased for these levels (lowering some is very difficult so

you will also need to keep eye on the salt levels, ph and nitrite and nitrate levels quite often, as well as cleaning the protien skimmer (which stinks!) and topping up the water with the special water.

this is what it takes for marine fish! they are rather difficult, not to mention expensive, if you are a first time fish keeper. So if you want fish i would suggest tropical, as they are just as colourful and you ditch the salt, protien skimmer, salt checks, often the special water and  you can have a much smaller tank!

I would suggest you research the 'dora' fish and all it's requirements thorughly and then decide if you want fish or not :D

  4. I thought Nemo was a Clown fish.  If that's the case it's a salt water fish and much more difficult to take care of. Since Dora was with Nemo she has to be salt water also but I can't find it yet.  Ask someone at your local pet store to find out what she is.  Good luck.  I lost $250 fish in one day when my electricity went off for four hours. NO it isn't as easy with a salt tank.  You have to keep the ph balance exact. Small Clowns start at $50 not $4.99.

  5. dory is a blue tang

they are saltwater grow big and are hard to take care of

alt water is not recommended for beginners

    all fish should have filters

  6. you should be able to find one in petco. they usually are hard to take care of. i don't really know if they are fresh or salt water.

  7. u feed it

    DONE!
