  1. It depends on how serious you are about it. Tennis is a sport where you get *Out* as much as you put *In.*

I think your best bet is to just sign up for a couple tennis lessons (or even a clinic with some friends) and see how you like it.

If you aren't very serious about tennis then get a $30 starter racquet from Target (or the like) and have fun with friends. If you are more serious about tennis then start taking lessons and order a Junior racquet from one of the main racquet manufacturers like Wilson, Head, Prince, Yonex, Babolat. For a starter Head and Prince make excellent junior racquets.

Just make sure the racquet is light (that means 10oz or lighter) and that the grip isn't too big or small. To figure that out, grip the racquet and try to put your index finger in between your palm and the tips of your finger. If it doesn't fit the grip is too small and if there is a lot of room between the too it's too large.

  2. Well... u need hand and eye coordination. get a babolat they are great

  3. at first its hard but after months of practice youll get better eventually. that is if you put effort to it. you just need to aim and know how much power you want in ur shots. since ur starting u can jus go to ur local walmart and buy a racket there

  4. it just depends how much time yer gonna put in it.

and its pretty easy to me, but im pretty good.

it is really fun so you should at least try and see at happens.

you need skill such as: hand eye cordination, you need to be able to learn and correct yer self. you should do ok if you can do those things! have funnn!

  5. it depend if you are naturally good. i tried. and failed.. get a wilson one

  6. It is super hard for most people to learn, but for me it is easy because I have a natural talent and ability for it =]  The main skills you need are determination, concentration, and confidence! Tennis ROX!! =]=]

  7. Im 13 and i started playing tennis about 2 years ago. And when i started, i sucked! now, 2 years later, i am playing at a skill level with a #1 doubles player and we are working on a set and tied at 4 4. So even if you are not a natural, you can practice and will be great. I used to have a Wilson racquet but I now use a Prince, and I like it more than a Wilson. I think it depends on the person. Once you know what brand you're interested in, go to your local sporting goods store and ask someone who plays tennis and knows their stuff for help to get the perfect racquet for yourself.

    Hope that helps a little!

  8. Tennis takes stamina, some upper body strenght, quick burst speed, and side to side movement.

The rules aren't that hard to learn, but like Golf, it can take a lifetime to master unless you are a natural.  You never know.

As a beginner you might be tempted to buy a overlarge head on your first racket.  Don't do it.  It will just be harder for you to switch to a good racket later.

Find a cheap one that fits well in your hands.  You do not know yet if you are a Serve & Volley player or a Groundstrokes player, or a Baseline player.

You don't know if your top-spin, back-spin or lobs are your best moves.

Once you get used to the game, and know what style you like playing, then you can worry about a specific racket.

  9. You are on a good age to learn. Its not so hard, it depends merely on you.

    Tennis is awesome

Buy a Prince raquet, a not to light one, not to heavy either. A shark could use

  10. Oh not very hard, I started to learn when I was 13 and I practically taught myself! And buy a tennis raquet[sorry, IDK how to spell:]. I'm sure if you ask a sales person at a store, they will point you in the right direction:)

    please help!

  11. Try to start. If you are good you have a chance to learn tennis  all life :)

  12. Do whatever it takes to learn the game....if you are the least bit athletic, you should pick it up in no time....also, it is one of the few sports that you can play with male or female and have a level playing field if you are dedicated.  It is a sport for all ages as long as you knees hold out!  HA!

  13. If you are commited and will keep trying even if at first you are not good and will do your best to get better and not quit you could be good. There are not really any skills that you need. What you need to do is find a coach. Once you find somebody ask them about when you can have a lesson and what kind of raquet you will need. It might be hard at first but i am sure you can do it.

  14. So far as a raquet, you can get by on pretty much any one since you're a beginner.  It doesn't have to be expensive, because you're just learning now.  Buy any normal-sized raquet with synthetic string in it and you'll be fine.  If your really take off at the sport, then the type of raquet you buy will depend on your strengths and weaknesses as a player.  Wilson, Prince, and Babolat are all great brands.  So far as your skills go, you need to be coordinated and you need to be quick on your feet.  If you aren't those already, don't worry!  Those things can be taught.  A few tips to remember:  since you're beginning, you don't need to worry about all the different weird kind of strokes that people can hit.  The second that you know where the ball is coming, pull your raquet back, and swing UP, like you're swinging up a table top.  This feels weird at first, but it's a solid stroke once you get it down.  And a solid stroke is one you can depend on.  Tip number two:  you have to always be moving your feet.  Even if the ball looks like it's coming right to you, you need to be shuffling your feet around so you can get in the best position possible.  This was my problem for a LONG time, but once I finally realized that I just had to do it, my game became a lot better.  Hope this helps!
