  1. I had a Mossberg 500 Cruiser ( pistol grip, 20 in. barrel), and the recoil from it was ridiculous.  Buy a regular stock, you can still shoot it like a pistol grip and the grip angle makes recoil a breeze.  I have a Ruger Vaquero in .44 mag with a 5.5 in. barrel, and that thing feels like I'm shooting a .22 compared to the mossberg, and by the way, I sold my Mossberg after about 2 boxes of shells, NOT a fun gun to shoot, maybe I'm just a wuss, lol

  2. The kick is not bad.    The issue is that it is hard to aim and control.    The point of just a pistol grip is concealment and compact storage.

The  pistol grip buttstocks are a good combination.   They are now used on turkey guns and other sport/tactical shotguns.  You have the sight alignment with  it seated in your shoulder for aiming and the pistol grip gives you a little more control and can actually take some of the recoil away from your shoulder.

  3. If you use 2 3/4 inch buckshot or slugs there is a bit of recoil. I can only handle about 6 or 7 rounds before my hand hurts..... Birdshot, Skeet or trap loads have less recoil..... 3 Inch cartridges kick like a mule... Unless your a real tough guy this will hurt to shoot those....  I have a Remington 870 18 inch barrel shotgun with a pistol grip and the recoil is lighter feeling than my Mossberg 500 18 inch barrel shotgun.... The Mossberg seems to have a more discernible kick..... Maybe because the Remingtons a little heavier??.... On the other hand my Winchester 1300 defender pump has less recoil than the Mossberg but more than the Remington...   If you think your going to blast 30 or 40 rounds of buckshot thru a pistol grip shotgun then you are in for an unpleasant surprise... Your hand will feel like ground up hamburger before your 1/2 way there.......   I put the full stock back on my Mossberg and the recoil is now quite managable... and now I am able to actualy hit something......

  4. all show no go... a pistol grip on a shotgun is all Hollywood.

Hurts like the dickens... and very hard to control.

  5. well it always depends on the persons wrist strength and muscle even if a person might be big the strength and muscle build up of the wrists is what determines how bad the recoil is for a person. From what I have heard a 12 gauge pistol grip shotguns kick just makes the wrist ache a little bit but if you shoot guns often and have good wrists it shouldn't be anything to worry about.
