  1. I think it was pretty easy. They give you all the help you need. I passed with a 98% but I did pay attention in class and did my own homework.....    BNSF.COM

  2. If you are talking about the test at the end of conductor school, it' not really hard.  I hired out with UP about a year ago, and none of the tests were very difficult, if you pay attention during class.  Being a good test taker will get you through alot of it.  The problem is when you get out of class, and it's time to go to work, you still don't know jackspit about what's going on.  You might know the rules, but applying them is a whole different ball game.

  3. If you're talking about promotion exams to become an engineer, it is pretty challenging.

As pointed out already, there are many exams, not just one. Operating rules, Airbrake and train handling, mechanical and air, Hazmat.

Takes a good bit of studying but hey, I did it on more than one RR and I'm no genius.

With motivation and good instructors it is do-able.

  4. which exam? there are MANY exams for the railroad, and each is different
