Question:

How hard will it be for me to get into CSULB?

I'm an out-of-state applicant. I have a 4.0 GPA and I'm taking the SAT/ACT in about a month. I've taken a lot of AP classes and I've already taken some college classes at a community college and I'm taking more this year. Is it possible for me to transfer my credit to CSULB?

Does CSULB favor in-state or out-of-state students? And when I apply, do I just have to fill out the CSU mentor application or are there other things I need to do as well?

Sorry there's so many questions. :]

Thanks!

  1. Assuming you score reasonably well on the SAT and ACT, with your grades, you should be able to get into CSULB. My question, however, is WHY? If you're a straight A student, you can shoot for a better ranked school like one of the UC's.

But if you're really set on CSULB, then here's the deal: yes, CSU schools favor in-state applicants. However you're quite good for an out-of-state applicant, and you stand a good chance of getting in. Your first year of school will be very expensive, though, because you will be charged non-resident tuition. Simply apply for CA residency, and your subsequent fees will be much lower.

As for transfer credits, I am sure at least some of your credits will transfer. Check with your CC transfer advisor for details.
