Right now I run a 12 minute mile (not good I know) but I need to get it in under 10 minutes in 2 weeks. Any tips? How hard do you think it will be? Thanks. =]

  1. its not impossible. I have been running for 8 years now and would recommend the following:

I would strengthen the core: calves, quads, hams, back and abdominal (the "six pack" muscles along with the obleks), chest and arms. But when strengthening these muscles, I would focus more on the muscle endurance not the muscle bulk. For more advice for this, I would consult with a personal trainer. For the running part, I would stay flexible as it helps/contributes to your balance (so do the muscles in your core) but also helps prevent some injuries like pulled muscles and shin splints. Also, I would try to make up a schedule where you can run for X amount of days and try to have a long run. I would start off slowly, running about 2-3 miles per run for the first week and increase my mileage per week. Make sure you have the following: a good diet, hydration, sleep, a good sense on how to take care of your body, and sleep. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Good Luck!!!

  2. i know!!!!

run with the coolest person EVER

    ME!!!!

    we can run....

    i run a 7:45 - 8:10 minute mile

keep up with me and your set

    =D

  3. I have taken a lot of time off my mile by running about 3- 6 miles about 3 times a week and do track workouts the other days. 800's would be good to work on speed and push your self to get better. My time was about 6: 24 and I have gotten it down to about 5: 44 so far. Make sure to do an easy run the day before a race to rest your muscles. Just keep it up. =D

  4. it would be pretty hard if you aren't in shape.

you need better muscle tone and better cardio if you are cramping up.

  5. WAX THE FLOOR! No but seriously, you should be working on speed work outs like a few fast 800's a day. You could be amazed how much time you can take off. You could do the same with distance, but it would take at least a season (does not work for 2 mile)
