How hard would it be to locate to another country?

Question

I was born in the U.S., but i am starting to want a change. I would like to try moving to Scotland, or Ireland, maybe even England or Austrailia

I moved to Italy several years ago, but it was through my job. If you're a US citizen, you can't just show up in Europe and stay for longer than 3 months. It is illegal to work here without the proper work visa or student visa. Please be aware that you will have to file taxes both here and in the US if you retain your US citizenship.

In general in Europe, and in particular here in Italy, you have to have a job lined up in order to get a work visa before you move here from the US. You can only stay for 90 days without some type of visa (work, student, ...). You cannot apply for the visa while you're here and you'll need the proper paperwork from the company. However, you could come over as a tourist for up to 90 days without a visa and look for work. There's also a visa available for a working vacation. Then you'd have to go back to the US and wait for the paperwork for a visa to be processed. If you're coming from the US, you'll also have to have skills that can't easily be duplicated here. That will mean a degree in a marketable field. It is much easier if you are an EU citizen; then you have the right to move and work within the EU.

While there's a lot of preparation to do, it's worth the effort.
