I want to put a manual transmission in my automatic metro. It has the 3 cylinder engine. I am just wondering how hard that would be. Please let me know everything that I need to know about this job. Thanks

  1. This is an often asked question here and my answer, as always, is that it isn't worth the cost of parts or labor. Even if you do it yourself it will cost more than the car is worth. If you are adamant about doing it, your best bet is to purchase a '93 junker with a standard and rob all the parts from it. You'll need the clutch and brake pedal assembly, the clutch assembly, clutch linkage, throwout and pilot bearings, bell housing, transmission & rear mount, drive shaft and all the associated hardware. A lot of work and expense for a car that doesn't have a great deal of value.
