  1. No.  Even engineered genes aren't necessarily going to contribute to the emergence of a new species.  I don't have any figures, but I'd imagine that there are far more failures than successes in the man made attempts to alter living things.  Our efforts to modify genes are just another version of the mutation process that powers the evolution process.


  2. Natural Selection is the key concept postulated by Darwin. We should be aware that this is very  different from the emerging field of Genetic Engineering. As word itself explains, this is a Science that modifies the organism in the genetic level aiming to improve our lives. This field does not interfere with Natural Selection but rather enhance it I should say. The Science of GE helped the organism itself to adapt to the environment in a more easier way.

    We should also be aware that the aim of this field is not to destroy the organism but rather make it more useful.
