How has YA changed you?

By encountering such a variety of people and opinions, how do you think, the Yahoo Answers, have changed you, opened your horizon??

In any case, we do have news through out the world but still, we get it filtered and channelled via some who are at teh top and have analysed firt the issues for us!

While here, it is flat free of any forms and shapes of hierarchies. Well, you might have Top Contributors a bit higher, but its still a flat society.

Everyone gets teh same say!

"Don Tapscott, in his book 'Wikinomics' called this "Renaissance of the age of internet, breaking down boundaries of the hierachical society and building a flat free of power position society, where knowledge rules, <rather then manipulation of it! - my edit>.

HE also sads that this renaissance is far more powerful then that of the birth of the Greek democracy and that of Italy, mainly because NOW IT HAS GONE GLOBAL AND INVOLVE THE WHOLE WORLD, rather then few corners!

What are your thoughts?! Any peculriar insights? Please share it!

  1. YA is currently doing their software changes and causes much interruptions in the process. I loss a few submissions and have to repeat my affort in only one way --hope to have two ways soon for chit-chat session. It is good that they are monitoring the progress of the interaction and the needs that are needed.

Since I joined in last month, I realised that I am talking in writing to the wall or screen with one way in and need to wait for Email much later and not too sure of it. Can this be improved after another study by them for another few months.

Anyway, it is a good experience to know the kind of people in this world -- some crazy, some smart and some don't care, but is nice to laugh it out loud. I am hook by it now spending at least 2 hours a day for the crazy feeling of it.

  2. it makes me mad

  3. shocked at how negative and unsympathetic people can be.

  4. I suppose so, yeah!

Ive learned a lot of new things I didn't know before :)

  5. Brought out my darkest side; and yet i get banned for my most innocuous answers usually. lol.

  6. After seeing so many racist, stereotypical, rude comments about Americans , the British yahoo answer users have earned me a new virulent dislike for their people and a regret that my country didn't let the n***s destroy their existence entirely. You asked & i told you.

EDIT- B Rob you ticked me off yesterday but i do want to let you know that you are correct in your observations. You just forgot to metion exactly how rude & disrespectful your people are.

EDIT- Thanks Ben Bee. I apologize to you but not anyone else. And i promise you i never felt this way until i started using this site.

  7. no change at all

  8. It hasn't changed me one iota. I'm British and I can't disagree with one word you say, Bella. I apologise on behalf of the rude ignoramuses you refer to. I hasten to add that not all British people are like that.

  9. i enjoy it for what it is, but as a resource it could be used much more widely, and more effectively

I think it's a real shame that the internet still isn't accessible to every human being on earth, as expressing opinions, giving advice, telling jokes is a great way of developing.

  10. Given me real insight to how people feel as they feel safe to express their hate for my country I have find that when i travel I'm ready to fight and i wish my country [America] would become completely isolationist

  11. I don't think it has

    But it gives some interest.

  12. Well i have learnt so much really and it has changed my perception of how people in America and Britain think.I have realised the British find criticism and being critical of everything just part of everyday life while our American cousins find any criticism of themselves or there system very hurtful and can bring out the worst in them.

There are many people on here who genuinely want to help and a lot who just find it somewhere to obviously relieve there boredom sometimes it makes we laugh out loud and others feel deeply sad overall my experiences on answers has been good

And you never know yahoo answers keep it up and in a thousand years we may all understand each other better now its global!

  13. I have realized to avoid this section because after 4 PM pacific time all the conversvatives come out of hiding from their caves and all mass this section with their propaganda

Other than that, it allowed me to see how ignorant and un-educated the masses really are and how easily they can be swayed by made up lies and rumours.

  14. Its great people like you who give these treasures of life a thought.I personally feel that Yahoo! Answers has brought a whole new change in the way I saw life. Now I realise that this world is full of people who are ever ready to help you. Also that it has enabled everyone to get help OF WHATEVER CONCERNS THEM IRRESPECTIVE OF AGE CLASS AND RELIGION.So I think overall its been a great revolution for me!Thanx for asking!
