Do you know of any specific finds or digs that would help prove the bible and the existance of God?

  1. No. Nothing that archeology or anthropology has found helps prove either the Bible is correct, or the existence of God.

All it has done in that regard is prove that the creation story is not literally true.

  2. The best method I can think of for determining the veracity of the Bible (and the existence of the Trinity:  Father, Son, Holy Spirit) is in the actual Bible.

My reassurance that Bible is true and inspired by a Supreme Being derives from one simple fact:

the Bible's PREDICTIONS.     Read through the New Testament and then see how much of what was predicted to happen has actually transpired.  You will be shocked in its accuracy.

Don't take too literally, however, the measures of "time" used in the Bible.   The phrases they used back then to denote time did not comport exactly to the expressions we use today.

  3. I wouldn't say that any of the finds "prove" the existence of God, however what Archaeology has done is give us a picture of what life was like around the time that Jesus was supposed to be alive. One of the most famous sites that I can think of is "The House of St. Peter". However this was excavated by monks, so its not exactly objective data.

  4. The existance or non existance of God can never be proven by science, it's a matter of faith.  I don't believe that there's ever been a mention in the bible about God living on earth, so no amount of digging would uncover some evidence of God's existance.

Now if you tie God's existance with whether or not the bible is factual, which I wouldn't since in the end the bible was written by men, then in that case yes science can prove God didn't exist.  Bare in mind the bible is not factual, it is not a history book.  It's more like a novel that was based on real events.  Just like the movie 300 was based on real events.

  5. Being incredibly familiar with middle Eastern archeology..

    No.

Trying to prove the bible was the main reason the middle East and Egypt was so well dug up in the early twentieth century.

Some of the history we get out of the area shows the evolution of Yahweh from one of several gods in an early Semitic pantheon, complete with a wife. It actually contradicts a lot of the bible, and shows how derived from Sumerian myths the whole thing is.

Also, the history is easily datable to before the young Earth creation date. The Sumerians invented beer a couple of thousand years before that date.

  6. You can a lot of information on this subject see:

There are many other sites just search Bible Archeology.
