    Now, that's what girlfriends are for. Bada bing, bada boom. Only kidding.

    The biggest change is accurate typing and matching. Since we now know what types are needed, it helps identify what donors are needed. Many large hospitals put a mini-ad on their newsletters, "we need Type A blood."

    Also, it has become much safer, since there is no chance of getting infected since all supplies are sterile.


  2. It is basically the same except they test the blood more.  I suspect they test everyone for HIV, certrain STDs,  and other blood borne pathogens.  The screening and questions they ask is much more detailed.
