  1. Cost of Living Allowances or COLAs

They can't raise the salary "officially" but they can adjust it for inflation.  Plus the courts refuse to act upon this, since no one can prove that they were directly harmed by this.

  2. The sentence makes no sense as typed. Are you sure about the wording?

  3. And the 27th amendment is....? Not all of us memorize the constitution.

  4. Congress gives themselves cost of living raises, but my guess is it a h**l of a lot higher than the cost of living raises that they give to those that are on social security. When my mother was living she got a cost of living increase that amounted to $8 a month but this was followed by an increase of her Medicare co-payment of $25 per month.

If you look at what the House has just done in regards to the offshore drilling vote, none of these Representatives should even be collecting a paycheck except those that stayed behind.

For those that don't know, Nancy Pelosi refused to let offshore drilling even come up for a vote. Instead she dismissed the House early (11:30 am) so that everyone could take their 5 week vacation.

Congress did not find a loophole to get pay raises, they created a loophole and we should vote every stinking one of them out of office.
