  1. They became equal members with men in society, insofar as the law was/is concerned! That meant they could have their own property, vote, hold jobs. In the last 40 years, life has truly become a lot more freer for women to live out their lives as they wish, instead of being a mere extension of the husbands identifies!

  2. Well, in the 1920s most women worked until they got married, then stayed at home with the children. Only very poor women continued to work after marriage.  Nowadays they are expected to keep working no matter what.  You may or may not consider this an improvement.  personally, I have my doubts.

  3. Well, between the 1920s and present day, there were the 1950s (which were very repressed in a lot of ways, and very limiting for women). The 20s were very liberated in some ways-- women had a lot of social freedom. But their freedom was cut short once they were married and did not extend to the law (except that they could now vote). The 1920s was the Flapper Era, where women wore short skirts, scandalous, skin-colored leggings, and crazy beads. The fashionable look was skinny, with no chest and short-cropped hair-- called the "garçonne" look (or, roughly translated, "female boy") it centered around androgyny. Jazz, Freud, and crazy dancing made people  a lot more open about s*x.

But despite the apparent sexual freedom of the Roaring Twenties, most women still felt forced into certain roles, and it was about freedom through masculinity, not freedom through humanity.

It's important to note that most flappers were not feminists. They saw the First Wave as "unfun," thinking they weren't being "pals" to men.

In the twenties, women were still restricted in their careers. Now, a  woman can be just about anything she'd like except for a priest.

  4. single most important change is the birth control pill which came into general use in the 1960's and gave women control over  when and how many children they would choose to have for the first time in history. this opened doors of freedom and opportunity which quickly led to women entering the workforce en masse, and one by one toppling stereotypes long held about their stupidity and helplessness.  even their lack of math skills.

  5. In the case of Lavena Johnson and any other women who want to protect and serve their country, not much at all. I don't see how they could rule that as a suicide if she was raped, beaten, shot, and burned alive. As the day's go by the justice in America decreases by the hour.
