How has our knowledge of genetics been used to manipulate the genetic characteristics of organisms?

in countless ways for one our genetic understanding has allowed us to genetically engineer plants such as corn and wheat to maKE them handle droughts better and less vulernable to insects. In medicine we have genetically modify microscopic organisms to produce things such as glucose and even malaria medication cheaply meaning more people have access to them and last we have even splice our dna into some organisms such as cows that allows us to use them to produce antibodies for venoms(still in testing). hope this help.
