How has photosynthesis changed the course of evolution?

Oxygen production in photosynthesis created an oxygen rich atmosphere enabling aerobic respiration for many organisms which previuosly would not have been able to survive.

It didn't, photosynthesis was created in plants separately from and at the same time as animals. If one wants to believe that a plant gave rise to an animal that would be his or her religion, but that would be in error.

Oxygen produced as a by product of plant respiration actually killed off most of the anaerobic organisms which lived before.  

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/200...  Once oxygen was in sufficient quanties on the planet, it allowed the rise of multicellular organisms which could use what was to the earlier ones a poison.  Those multicellular organisms led to the explosion we call the Cambrian explosion -- a time when vast amounts of multicellular life begins to appear in the fossil records.  Some of those life forms are among our earliest ancestors.

Here's one with evidence in the iron of the earth showing that oxygen changed the reducing atmosphere of the earth to an oxidizing one.  We can tell from the precipitation of iron.

Your belief system is your own.  But also go see what's actually been FOUND by looking at the planet that you believe God created.  It's amazing just what we know because we make use of the brains that we have and that we use those brains to actually learn what has happened in our earth's past.  

Or does your belief entail a need to see that God is sneaky and He just put all those fossils, chemical evidence, DNA results out there to play a massive joke on his intelligent primates?
