  1. It has removed the element of mutual fear-baiting upon which the previous autocratic leaders relied to maintain power over their own people.

Iran must now put forth its well-groomed showmen wearing western attire to appear legitimate...all the while dreading their own people seeing the fruits of a secular state where women can drive cars and become attorneys...

  2. well, thanks to America, Iran now no longer has enemies in Baghdad (or Kabul for that matter)

thanks America for strengthening Iran! the world is grateful

  3. They have become closer because both Iran and Iraq are governed by the Shia's

  4. Oh my God, the first intelligent question in 30 minutes in here!  I think in the long term it will improve their relations. It could be harmful to the minority sects in Iraq though, if the s**+'ite majority in both bend towards abuse of the Kurds, Suni's  and the former Bathists.

  5. It has improved it vastly, the law of unintended consequence sure bite the USA on the a** with this outcome.

  6. Iran will be able to exert some political control of Iraq through the Shia majority.  Thus, it is likely they will be more closely allied now than ever before in recent history.  given their mutual interests in oil supply, this alliance will further decrease Western influence on Middle Eastern oil.

  7. They never liked each other but maybe if the people in Iran see how the people in iraq are living they will want the same thing.
