How has the UN dealt with the civil war in Sudan?

If someone could summerize basically some specfic things the UN has done or not done. And just an overall answer on how the UN has dealt with the situation

  2. The US had troops there, but the warlords decided to not to  cooperate, and the resulting fighting just killed too many locals without acheiving anything, so the US pulled out, and they are now using African Union troops.

  3. I cannot specify what has been done, which has been very ineffective, but I can state that one reason that the UN has not followed through on any sanctions that have been made is due to the fear of angering China.

    China seems to have become the protector of the foul government of Sudan.
