Chenga-I guess no one's death is more important than anyone else's unless a person holds more significance in your life than the other. Obviously, he didn't hold any importance to you personally. For others, it's kind of a blow. I was a fan. This really was geared toward people who followed his career and were fans.

  1. I find it not only shocking, but it is really sad to hear that he was quite young at his death.  He was a really good comedian and actor.  Bernie Mac will surely be missed by so many others that love him.  It's like one week ago he is doing okay but was in the hospital.  Then, he died without a warning, and that is what makes it so disturbing.

He sure acheived a lot of accomplishments in his 50 years of life.

  2. I was completely blown away.

I think the way he died hit me kinda hard. Now adays you hear people dying of the fight against cancer or old age...but to die on pnemonia is a really big blow to me.

He was a magnificent actor, his style and jokes were so unique to the entertainment world and I am really gonna miss him a lot!

  3. very sad, he has an honest and blunt man. Not many ppl shared the type of comedy he did, but like he always said he would say the things that everyone would whant to say but where to scared 2 say them. He was a true old school type of guy. RIP MAC

  4. It's really a shock too me, i really enjoyed having Bernie Mac on television, and watching him in the movies. He died way too young. But it does show us that life is short

  5. I was totally shocked!  How he died and how young he died is what shocked me the most!  I didn't know him personallly, of course, but when I heard the news it was like hearing about someone close to me dying!   R.I.P. Bernie Mac! :(

  6. it was ,for lack of a better word, shocking.i dont think its quite sunk in yet though.but its crazy because i was just reading an article recently where the were saying he had improved and was doing great.

  7. I liked Bernie Mac...It was shock..and scary just to think that someone that young could die so suddenly...It's weird because I remember reading like a week ago that he was sick...and I remember myself thinking why is this big news...he'll probably end up getting better...its just pneumonia....god i was so ignorant...i give my condolences to his family and friends.. may he rest in peace..

  8. i was really sad. i woke up to a text that my friend sent me saying he passed away this morning around 2am. i had to read it several times because i couldn't believe it. i didn't even know he was sick so it was a big shock to me. i used to crack up watching the bernie mac show! he was still young. only 50! it's sad but we all have to remember that he is no longer suffering. he will truly be missed! RIP Bernie Mac (1957-2008)

  9. It makes me feel the same way when Robin Harris died who was famous for "Be Be's kids". Both of them were great comics, they both were from the South Side of Chi-town (Yeah babe where I'm from!) and they both had family (Bernie Mac had a granddaughter, Robin Harris wife was pregnant) and finally they both were young. As African Americans we have to be cautious of our health and watch what we eat and exercise. Yes Bernie Mac had a illness but sometimes as celebrities, their lifestyles are fast-paced and they neglect their health. Bernie Mac said in 2007 that he would retire and be a behind the scene man. Prayers to his family and hopefully he was saved and he made it to heaven. R.I.P Jangle Leg aka Bernie Mac!

  10. Unbelievable!  I had no idea he had an illness and to come on-line today to see the headlines baffled me.  I used to watch the Bernie Mac show and I thought he was cool.  Now reading the news I am in shock.  I hope in death he is at peace and at least he did many things in life including the joy of laughter.

  11. I was soooo shocked!

I still can't really believe it.

He was hilarious, and will be missed terrbily.

Not only by his family, and co-workers.. but his fans aswell.

    It's hard to believe.

Someone so full of life, someone so funny..

And appeared to be so happy and good at what he did for a living..died

Last person that I would think would die, just because he didn't appear sick..at all.

But may he rest in peace.

    it's tragic really.

Im still shocked, and can't believe it.

  12. I was sooooo d**n shocked and SAD. I didn't eat anything.... I swear...ok maby just two slices of pickles.....and a slice of cheese....some lettuce.....a little ground steak. OK!!! I ate a whole d**n Steakburger!!!! Nonetheless, I was still sad and sympathetic. I loved his work. He will truly be missed in my family. :(

  14. The news about Bernie Mac's death affected me inside and outside, because he was such a funny comedian and actor, as well as being such a charismatic person.  He will always be missed by everyone in the world.

  15. i am sad and still sad.

like the girl who posted before me, i woke up to a text too. i didnt believe it. then i convinced myself it was a rumor. then later my sister told me it was on cnn. i was so sad. it isnt going to be the same watching the Bernie Mac Show. HE WAS SO YOUNG! R.I.P. Bernie

  16. 17. I was a fan of his,

so it was a shock to me.

No tears or anything, but whenever a good person dies, it is always a sad thing.

Of course with the media the story gets more exposure.

    But none the less R.I.P.

  18. it was an absolute shock. i really thought he would be able to pull out of the pneumonia he was suffering from and go back to being a comedic genius. we will always miss him.

as loyal fans, my friends and i have already planned a grievance party. tomorrow we're going to gather a bunch of movies featuring our fave star (Ocean's 11-13, Mr. 3000, Kings of Comedy, The Bernie Mac Show) and watch them by candlelight.

  19. this is really a shock its like more and more stars are dying young cause of drugs and just real life in his Case pneumonia and so its like these stars that we hold on a pedestal, who we see everyday are dying and what does that mean for us

and it sucks cause its like we are starting to realize life's not eternal

  20. IO know its like I watch the Bernie Mac show everyday then the other Day I watched Oceans Eleven and Friday I hope he'll be in a better place! R.I.P Bernie Mac

  21. I was shocked. Even though I'm not familiar with his stand up I am a huge fan of his acting.(I say "am" and not "was" because even thopugh he passed on, i'm not gonna stop admiring his work) I thought he was brilliant in Oceans Eleven

  22. bernie mac is a comedy legend.it has affected me alot! bernie mac is a legend and comedy just wont be the same without him. thats my opinion.

  23. Shocking -  to say the least!

I wasn't even aware that he was ill - can you believe this?!?

Another great U.S. comedian and entertainer bites the dust much too early...

  24. I was shocked...still am shocked....With him being such a comical person too........It didn't seem like his time but I guess it was because he is not here anymore.

Everytime I think of his death I get sad.  He will be missed....oh, man and he was soo young. I hate that he is gone. I can't express my grief in words. All this hurts my heart

  25. Every time a celebrity dies it's almost unbelievable, especially at such a young age. He barely had gray hair. Least we know how deadly pneumonia is now, even if you have a lot of money to treat it.

  26. I am still shocked that he passed away. Although having pneumonia is quite serious, I'd expected him to pull through since he were so young! I admit, I cried when I found out he died and it literally sucks since he was one of my favorite comedians. I am really going to miss him and my condolences goes out to his family.

It always the good ones that die young. :-'(

  27. It is sad. I was shocked.

Whether people like it or not, celebrity personalities do become so familiar that they are like distant members of our families.

I feel sorry for his own family. My prayers and best wishes are with them.

  28. When I saw the headline i literally screamed "WHAT!" So very shocked i really thought he was going to pull through,we grew up in the same area so his sense of humor and his style just reminds me of most of the older cats around the way, when he was at home here in Chicago he never acted like the typical star, it was almost like he forgot how big he was lol But man i will really miss him and so will the rest of the city,he represented us well. R.I.P. B MAC

  29. I was shocked when i heard of Bernie macs death he died at 50, he had pneumonia but was supposed to be released soon he also suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body's organs. when you think about his death it makes you think that no one will live forever, even though we didn't know him personally, i think no one would be more upset then his family and friends, and makes us think that we still have our family and friends. R.I.P Bernie, you may be dead but you'll never be forgotten. :-0

  30. I'm still stunned over his passing; I thought he'd pull through after reports said he was doing fine w/treatments and everything. I can't believe he's really gone, and so young, too! We've lost another great personality. RIP Bernie Mac

  31. I liked his work and he seemed like a nice guy. While I won't be affected in a dramatic form I am sad that he is gone, there won't be anymore cameo appearances in movies or in "Oceans 14" or something. I offer my sympathies to his family, friends and co-workers.
