How has the theorization of urbanism perspectives evolved?

Has the concept of urbanism changed since the time of simmel, mumford or Wirth?... or are cities pretty much the same as they described it back then and what has changed about cities or how we define cities now to then?

i don't know those dudes, but the mass production of the car led to the suburbanism exodus from the cities by the whites and the cities being more populated by other races.
