  1. give one new gift of yours at your birthday and/or Christmas to the poor, volunteer as a family to help those in need, go to church, help around the house with household chores, help a younger sibling when they are learning something new or having trouble, or buy toys and clothing for those in need.

  2. Most people do stuff at Christmas or other holidays or for special ocasions, or donate their old funriture when they get new.  THose things are absolutly great and it certainly instills thinking of the less fortunate.

But I think to truly instill the importance of actually giving back, it needs to be a part of your every day life.  Why do you only go to the soup kitchen once or twice a month?  Why dont you do something volunteer every single day?

Well, lives are busy there are always other activities.  Well, I think giving back should be just as important and scheduled just as regularly as things like our other every day activities...  meals, work, school sports...

  3. Well my son just turned 15 months old so he's a little young still, but I am sending his outgrown clothes and toys to my husband in Iraq so he can give them to the locals that really need them. They love American clothes so its cute. We are taking pictures so when he's old enough he'll know his clothes went to a good purpose. Hopefully he'll care.

  4. well i dont have kids but my mom instilled it in me by giving me the option of donating my hair to locks of love (which i have done) and donating things to the salvation army/toys for tots.

  5. We pack shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, throughout the year. This is a project through Samaritan's Purse. Shoe boxes are filled with socks, toys, hygeine products, etc and sent to needy children in hundreds of countries. When we see good deals we pick them up. My kids enjoy this as much as the kiddos who receive the boxes.

  6. watch the movie pay it forward, i think its called.

  7. i am a child-well a teen. i think my mom and dad have. i mean i give my old stuff to good will and pay for the movies when my friends take me

  8. My kids fill their lasts years backpacks (once they have been washed) with brand new school supplies. We leave them at other schools in the area. (Not the school they attend).

At Christmas, they each go shopping for Toys 4 Tots for someone in their own age group. They use some of their allowance and some of what I give them.

They sort through their clothes that they don't want or don't fit and they go with me to goodwill.

They help go through cabinets during Thanksgiving to donate boxed/canned foods to food drop offs.

  9. Once or twice a month we all go down to the soup kitchen and make and serve a meal. EVERYONE participates.

Ugh Kelly, I hated that movie! I had to watch it in high school theology class, and I couldn't stand it!

  10. We always make Christmas ornaments to give out at Christmas time. Every adult member gets an homemade ornament.

My daughter goes to the dollar store for Christmas presents for the kids in our family.

We also do girl scouts and do community service such as visiting a nursing home, parades or making Easter baskets.

Making thank you notes for birthdays is a great way to show appreciation.

Yes Love the movie pay it forward...........we acutally went to their website and received bracelets to hand out.
