  1. When we say "modern" do we refer to the period roughly 1880-1950 and the following years as "postmodern"?  Or do we mean "contemporary"?  (These art historians need to get their naming sorted out!)

If contemporary, then there are lots and lots of examples of the interplay of western and world arts.  That's one of the predomiant features of all art forms during the postmodern--bringing together of stylistic elements from two or more world cultures in a way that (when successful) allows them to comment on one another.  Can be seen in textile arts, world music, fusion cuisine, architecture, as well as visual arts.

If 1880-1950, then the leading figures in brining Latin American elements into visual arts would HAVE to have been Diego Rivera and Frieda Kahlo.

For African elements, in addition to the Picasso connection cited above, there were two European styles of primitivism: in France, the Fauvists (inspired more by the South Seas styles of Gaugin), and in Germany, der Blau Reiter.  Not all members of these movements were inspired by Africanism, you'd need to pursue the individual members and assess their works.

BTW, "Africa" is a rather big, big place with no single artistic style that's as consistent as is "Latin".  Egypt, after all, is African, and the visual arts and architecture of Egypt (themselves derived/influenced by Ethiopia over the centuries) had a major influence on western arts beginning with the sculptures of the Greek cycladic period (and probably before).  Those obelisk monuments in Rome and Washington DC are African-inspired, aren't they?  And one cannot deny earlier historical influences as a factor in contemporary styles.

  2. The first thing that comes to mind is that Picasso got a great influence of African masks. Those could come from different cultures like Benin, Congo, Afula, , etc. A breakdown could be: From Mali: Tellem, Dogòn, Bandiagara, Sanga, Ireli, Bambara,Mrka: from Volta Zone: Mossi, Bobo, Kurumbi: From Ivory Coast: Senufo, Dan, N`Gufere, Guto,Baule,Agni: from Guinea: Baga,Kissi: from Sierra Leona:Mende: from Congo: Batekè, Bakongo, Bayaka,Bapende,Bashongo,Dengesè, Bena Lulùa, Baluba, Basonge, Warega,Manghbetu: from Rodhesia, today Zimbaawbe: Barutse,Mashona. As for Mexican Art, maximum exponents were Rivera, Orozco and Siqueiros, who delved into the cultures of Zacatenco, T&icoman, Teotihuacàn, Toltecas, Mexteco-Pebla, Azteca, Olmeca,Huasteca, Michoacàn, Guerrero, Jalisco, Colima, Nayarit, Tarasca, Oaxaca and Maya. Most expressions were  ceramics, textiles, sculpture, architecture and masks, and not much of painting.
