I would love a historical example or something currently happening that would illustrate why equal opportunity is vital to the robustness of an economy/ country, etc. Don't give me any simple answers such as "they make up one half of humanity" ... I want to be able to make a strong case as to WHY a culture should care to respect both sexes.

Thanks!

  1. We'll let you know when things are a little more equal around here.  Right now women are still trying to get some more fairness at the workplace, health issues and in the military.

  2. They lube the economy by filing for divorce. A patriarchal family tends to safe and invest. SOlution, give her all the money, in a divorce family few or nothing gets safed or invested, all is spent.

  3. Is it just me, or is it that every time dsds post something he makes himself look more gullible and ignorant to the world around him. The reason why the world has a problem with the United States and Britain is because we’re the two countries that always have our nose in everyone else’s business. We’re so busy thinking that we’re better than everyone else, and dabbling with any country that has an economic interest to us that we bully everyone with our war toys and “diplomacy” as we’ve seen with the war in Iraqi. It has nothing to do with American Feminist. The only people who have problems with American feminist are the many men who think like you.

While over sea’s, I had a chance to see women venturing into entrepreneurship more that ever before. Starting their own business, and increasing their communities (countries) economic growth. In parts of Asia, women are now being given formal business management training to stimulate the economy. This provides food and shelter for their families, thus working to decrease poverty and crime; they’re being educated to the level of men giving them a fair chance at honorable employment. I will admit, many countries such as the some of the one’s in the Middle East and Northern Africa have a long way to go with gender equality, but they’re slowing coming into the 21st century by fighting female genital mutilation, placing women in positions of power, and educating young girls.

And the only example you need of why a culture should respect both sexes is that they’re both human. What the h**l! You guys act like because we have breast we’re born with a 3rd eye and green blood. We’re no better or no worse a person than you are and you have no more power or prevalence to your existence because you’re a man. I don’t understand why it’s so hard for some of you guys to wrap your minds around that.  We need one another to survive. Why is it ok to oppress one group of people because they don’t look, act, or think like you do? What do you mean WHY should a culture care and respect both sexes? Because we’re of the same species……..

We’re not animals, we just a different s*x; what’s the problem people?

  4. It's amazing that you are asking this question. When women have rights they have fewer children but healthier children who are better educated.  Women must have equal access to education, work opportunities and health care. The most successful economic inititatives in the third world are those like FINCA which gives some loans to women who can create their own small businesses and provide for their families.  When women are only seen as appendages to men they both suffer.

  5. Well the international organisation UNIFEM is evening up the score for all the millions of years that The Patriarchy has been oppressing women. UNIFEM are making sure that laws are in place in every country in the world so that if men step out of line they go straight to jail e.g. in India a man can now be jailed for insulting any of his female relatives http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/wo...

UNIFEM are funding the promotion of this law, ensuring feminist revenge against 350 million Indian men http://mynation.wordpress.com/category/f...

Pretty good news for gender equality, right?

  6. I can only show you an example of what a world without women was before the influence of a culture that included women, ie. Western influence.

Watch the movie "Lawrence of Arabia."

You will notice that the Saudis looked and acted no different that they had in 500BC.  No culture.  Just tents.

That was less that 100 years ago.  almost 2500 years and not one change.

If the West stopped it's dependency on oil, the Middle East would go back to living in the past.

Women bring culture as a balance to constant war.  Without peace there it no positive cultural change.
