How have women gained greater equality of opportunity?

This is one of my child development questions but would just like to see what all of you think :)

Women have gained greater equality, freedom and choice. Women have made significant contributions to every aspect society's development, especially in culture and economy.  Women now has access to education, they have opportunities to hold key positions in the private and public sectors.

firefox girl is completely right, the women who have got anywhere have all worked really hard and that is why they have gained so much.

yeh its greater from like 1800 but not as great as it could be....a lot of men still appear to be more superior and they think they are anyways :(
