  1. It should just come up to the bottom of your bum!

  2. Long while since I rode a bike, but was always told toes bent should touch the floor to be comfortable and to be in control of the bike

  3. When you are sat on the saddle, with your feet on the pedals,as you pedal round, your legs should not quite straighten up on the lowest pedal .

  4. Just about tip toes when standing on the pedals. Anything lower will hurt your back.

  5. What ever height is the most comfotable.

Just experiment with which height is comfortable and fastest for you.

People will tell you all kinds of ways but its only you that can tell

  6. It should be as high as you can get it without rocking your hips as you pedal.   Typically, this means a slight knee bend when your leg is at the bottom of a pedal stroke.

If you were to set the saddle so you could touch the ground with your feet, your knees would explode in short order.

  7. To find a starting position, put your heel right above the pedal shaft. Adjust the seat so that your leg is fully extended with the knee locked. That will be reasonably close to the correct height when your ride with the ball of your foot above the pedal shaft. Make small adjustments from there. The correct height is a matter of personal preference. If your hips rock from side to side when you ride, your seat is too high. Personally, I've found that my seat should be what feels like just a bit too high when I start riding. As I loosen up, the seat height then feels correct.

  8. Your saddle should be set to allow your feet to reach the pedals (at their  lowest point) with straight legs.

  9. No.  What you want is a slight bend in your knee when the pedal is at the 6:00 (fully downward) position.  Adjust the seat height with this in mind.  Anything higher than this, you'll be hyper extending your knee and lower won't allow you to apply maximum power to the pedals.

  10. There are two positions to be taken into account when setting the saddle hieght.

Riding, as most others say, your leg should not be fully extended at the bottom of the stroke with the ball of your foot on the middle of the pedal, a pair of strapless toeclips will help with keeping your foot in the right position.

Stationary, waiting at traffic lights etc, you should be able to sit on the saddle with your left foot almost flat on the ground, the bike leaning sligthly to the left and your right foot on the pedal at about 2;00 o,clock.
