  1. From what I know they are very much higher than in the south for the most part.  This is mainly due to the north being industrialised and having more large cities than the south.  Consequently it has better roads and transport links and a more complex/modern infrastructure - drains, gas, electricity etc.  It is the centre of many industries, e.g. motor industry, fashion etc. Southern Italy is still dependent upon farming of various kinds and places are smaller and more remote from each other.

Tourism is big, of course, in Italy but I think the North is the more popular place because of the cities like Florence - the art & history there, and because of the lakes and mountajns.

The south tends to be hotter and much drier.

You could look up some of the places in the North e.g. Milan, Turin, Bologna, Venice.

Aslo, look up Reggio Calabria which is, I think the most southern region of Italy.

Tourist website are often helpful in this sort of study or try website for italian clothes designers to see where their headquarters are.

Hope this gives you a kick start!

  3. I'd say quite high, yes.

For instance, my boyfriend is from there and he considers Benetton a cheap clothing brand and Swatch a cheap-ish watch. That seems telling enough.

He also drives a car from 94 (here in Ireland) and says that no one in his town would be seen dead in it, except maybe immigrants from eastern Europe and that you couldn't even buy one if you wanted one.

To contrast, in some parts of the south I saw lots and lots of old Panda cars (the boxy ones) and I'm sure those haven't been produced since the late eighties or early nineties.

I'm sorry, I cannot find any documentation to support this; it's just a personal impression.

  4. oh not that much actually .remember we all have the same currency and the same economic system ,so u can't get great differences . of course cities are more expensive , as everywhere in the world .Never buy a sandwitch in St. Mark's square in Venice , with the same price u could easily buy 2 sandwitches outside the city lol

Price actually have risen since Euro has been introduced , for example cinemas tickets have almost doubled ( it used to be around 6.000 or 7.000 liras , that is 3 or 3.5 euros , and they're not about 6 euros , that would be former 12.000 liras)

Italians are basically dissatisfied with Euro , even if it gets much easter for us to travel with such a strong currency compared to the former , weaker Lira.

It's true North Italy is the industrial area of Italy , in this case stronger than the south , and so there are supposedly more job vacancies , but for example a person working in a factory in Northern Italy gets the same wage as the worker in the factory of the South.

and just to answer to the person before me , we get lots of Pandas here in Northern Italy too :-p

u can contact me if you need more informations ,see my yahoo id on my profile, ciao ciao good luck with your project
