  1. While a select few TVs will accept 1080P signals over COmponent cables, the vast majority limit them to 720p/1080i.

  2. Hi,

The red, green, blue RCA jacks are called component video (analog signal). When connected to a high progressive scan DVD player it inputs a resolution of 480p (progressive) to your tv. When connected to a High Definition set top box (Cable or Satelite) it inputs a resolution on 1080i (interlace) to your tv. So as you can see component video connections are used for both standard 480 signal and high definition 1080 signal. Other high definition (1080) connections like HDMI and DVI are both capable of carrying the standard 480 signal.

    Hope this helped.

  3. Good component cables can handle all the way to 1080p signals.

But that TV has a internal resolution of 720 lines so it will down-convert any 1080 signals you send.

CAUTION: "Component Cables" have been around for years built for only 480i signals.  Some cheap b******s buy WallMart or Radio Shack $15 cables and brag how they work just as good as much more expensive cables.

    They are wrong.

There is a loss of focus, some reflection and color-fading that goes on if standard-def cables are used.

Make sure you buy "HD Rated" cables for HD signals.  Or look for a 'bandwidth' about 90 Mhz or more.

A good site for HD component cables is www.bluejeanscables.com  . A 10 ft cable will run about $65.

Monoprice has some cheaper - but look for the details about frequencies/bandwidth.  If it does not specify the bandwidth it is likely a 480i cable.
