How high do pole beans grow? I have some fence stakes that are 4' tall?

Do the stakes need to be taller? What if I put up the green roll up fencing along the same area? Would that help? Or should the poles be 6' out of the ground?

  1. Mine have grown 6 feet above the 6' poles I have them growing on. They hang and sway in the wind. Won't hurt them any.  Just keep in mind that you have to be able to pick the beans when they mature.

  2. Some of them grow very tall.  But if you have 4' stakes then you can rewind the beans around them and they will be easier to pick at the time of harvest.

  3. taller the better. THey'll grow the 6 and some but probably won't reach the ground. 4 might be a little short but it's doable

  4. They will grow as tall as your stakes, bamboo is excellent for staking pole beans.

    Good Luck
