well the reason i ask is because I'm babysitting my friends 2 children and her 11 month old is getting some more teeth from what she says. well he has a temp of 102.3 which i think is crazy. i think he needs to go to the hospital. he also has the worst diaper rash i have ever seen she said it was because of cheap diapers she was using...well if so why didn't she give me ointment and tell me? she said the temp is from teething and now he just pooped and it was diarrhea! well i have a young son myself so i have stuff for Diarrheaa and temps and even diaper rash but something justisn'tt right here. he isn'tt getting taken care of from wat i see. she had gave a sippy cup for him but he choked on it so i gave him one of my sons bottles and he devoured it

what should i do?

  1. A temp over 101 is NOT teething! Sounds like a Mother who is not aware of what her baby needs. That baby is sick and needs to see a doctor. There is no excuse for a bad diaper rash! Call CPS!!

  2. Usually anything over 100 can be dangerous.  My niece got a temperature (99.8)  and a bum rash (turns out the rash was excema).

  3. I worked at a daycare 12 1/2 years. A normal temperature if teething is usually 100.5 or below. Anything higher than that can be an indication of another problem. 102.3 mom & dad needs to come home and take care of baby. Or call them and ask them about administering tylenol.

Another thing you can do is fill the bathtub with lukewarm water and give him a sponge bath. Or rather, find a couple wash cloths, strip him down to his diaper and let him sit reading a book or something he likes while you dip the rags in the lukewarm water and press it to him. Also, popsicles will help.

  4. anything over a hundred you should take him to the hospital.  that happend to my baby once and i thought it was teething and i took him to the hospital and it ended up being an ear infection.  I would take him hon,  better safe than sorry.

good luck and i hope your little one feels better.

  5. that high take them to the er.

  6. I beleieve the baby should feel hot to the touch, but really register a fever on the thermometer. a fever that high should definitely be addressed

  7. Hello, My son got off the bottle at 10 1/2 months. I think the baby is for sure teething. The sippy cup will be very uncomfortable because its not soft, Its hard on gums. I would rotate between the bottle and the sippy cup, I would give the bottle in the morning and at night and during the day give the baby the sippy cup. The diarrhea is also normal when teething. Keep the baby hydrated!!!! lots and lots of fluids. You can take the diaper off, and let the baby go free for a little, it will help with the diaper rash, The fever you should always monitor. With my son my doctor told me to rotate giving Tylenol and Motrin every 4 hours, to keep the fever down. Don't over dress the baby, if the fever is high, keep them dressed light. you can also help bring the fever down by bathing the baby, and let them sit and play a little in water. (My son is going through all that now) I know is scary. I hope this helps

  8. Sometimes babies do get diarrhea from teething believe it or not I learned that the hard way the rash might be because of what they are feeding that baby and as far as Sippy cups he's probably not ready to start drinking out of those and doesn't like it.  You should give him a bath like either the tub or the sink and only put enough water in it to cover his butt and it has to be the warmest you think that child can take it and just let him sit there for at least 5 minutes without anything on and let him play while he's sitting there after that let him run around naked so that his buns can air out and it should help him with the rash I know he might pee or p**p everywhere but just watch him or place him on something that you won't mind if it got soiled.  Don't give him any juice give him plenty or water or some pedialite if you have it.  As for the temperature give him some Tylenol for children about 0.8 that should help him if not then you can always call the doctor to see what you should do.
