I would like to mount the disconnect with GFCI breakers on the leg of the deck. The leg is only about 2.5' off the ground. Will this be a problem? Thanks in advance for your help. dp

  1. You really have to call your code enforcement department.  Mine had to be 2 foot off the ground here, but in my other homes the code was different.  I think it was higher because we got hard freezes and here we don't.

  2. If you live in an area that has code enforcement call and check with them.  I live in a rural area and I have a sub panel that is only 12" off the ground but it is an outdoor panel.  Also, all my outlets are GFI which I know is over kill but I have a pool and hot tub and kids running around.

The main concern is to have it high enough so that if there is a flash flood water can't submerse it.

  3. all disconnects shall mounted between 3' and 6'6" to the center of the handel no more no less   i would give the code reference from the NEC but don't feel like looking it up
