Question:

How high in the air can you see an LED light?..?

say an airplane?.. or would the plane have to be flying really low?.. because those lights are pretty bright.. (and yes I am talking about at night people)

  1. No way to tell.  It depends on the nature of the surroundings, the intrinsic brightness of the LED, its color, and its light distribution pattern.

The other answer is right.  A laser pointer will have different ranges depending on it's power.  I've seen some pointers say they're visible for 1 mile.  I've seen others claim 20 miles.  That's a long ways.  At about 30,000 feet, commercial aircraft are flying at around 6 miles up.  Easily within the range of higher powered lasers.
