  1. It begins at 6 miles above the Earth's surface.

    It ends at 31 miles above the Earth's

    surface.

    That makes it 25 miles thick.

    However, the at the poles, the stratosphere begins at 5 miles above the Earth's surface.

    So above the poles it is about 26 miles thick.


  2. It starts just above 30,000 feet above sea level. It ends at about 164,000 feet ASL.

    That's about 6 miles to just over 31 miles. Hope this helps.
