  1. It depends on the pony/horse.

Ive got 2 horses 15.3hh and 13.3hh and my pony can jump much higher that my horse its like hes on springs!!

  2. The 1968 silver medal for showjumping was won by Britain's Marion Coakes which she won on her pony  Stroller, a Connemara who stood only 14 hands high.  He remains the only pony to compete in the Olympics.

In 1965, the pair had won the women's world championship and picked up the Hickstead title in 1967 and 1970 again the only pony ever to win this competition. In the 1967 puissance at the Antwerp show he cleared the wall at 6ft 8in, and only put a brick out at 6ft 10in, to win jointly with Alwin Schockemöhle.

  3. A lot depends on the type of pony, plus the age and fitness.

A 14.HH thoroughbred type will clear a much higher fence than say a 14.HH cob.

  4. It really depends on the pony's age, conformation, and health, as well as the rider's experience, but I would say 3'6" at the most. Ask your trainer how high she has jumped so far, or talk to her previous owner about her jumping ability

  5. i think it depends on the breed and health of the pony!! some breeds can jump way higher then others. if the pony is an expirienced jumper and has done alot of jumping then it will be able to jump higher then the same type of pony that hardly ever jumps! if the pony is young it will also prob be able to jump higher as its alot fresher. the best way to do it is ask someone like an insturctor if you can he or she could watch you jumping her and tell you if you should start going higher and anything u can do to help make her jump higher! if you cant do this then just keep putting the jump a tiny bit higher each time and see how she reacts with it when she starts to refuse or knock down a certain height all the time then this may be because its her limit! just experiment with her!

  6. i think around 3ft-3ft3 maybe a litle higher depending on the horse

    =]

  7. My 14'2 Irish Cob jumped 4'6 in his prime!

  8. Ponies can jump as high as horses, often higher!

Take Teddy o'Connor for example. He's a 14.1hh eventer jumping the same as 16.2 Thoroughbreds!

My 14.2hh Welsh x is jumping 1.30m, mind you he has got thoroughbred blood.

So basically, it depends on the breeding and the willingness of your horse!

  9. it really depends!

because a 14hh competition pony could jump bit higher than 1m maybe, and a cob 14hh couldn't maybe make it up to 1m.

but this isn't always the case!!!!

  10. This depends on her athletic ability and attitude toward jumping.  If she's clearing 1 meter with ease consistently, and is in great condition, then I dont see any reason that you can't slowly push for more.  Just keep your eyes wide open so that you will realize when you have reached her limits.  Karen O'Connor has Teddy, a 14.1 3/4hh pony that competes at Rolex.

  11. it depends on the horse really. theres 13hh ponies who jump twice the size of them.

  12. Depends on the ability of the animal.  I have seen little horses jump much higher than you would expect.

  13. It really depends on the individual pony.  There are ponies out there that compete against horses such as Teddy O'Connor mentioned by other people.  I have done 4'10 on  13.1hh pony in Chase me Charlie and know of a 14.2 who regularly easily clears 4ft.

If you try higher then just increase it slowly and only a couple of inches at a time maximum.  Make sure she is fit and the ground is good then listen to your pony for when she decides it is too high.

  14. Theodore O'Conner was 14.1 and he jumped 4'1" over show jumping obstacles at the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event and won the gold medal at the Pan American Games.

I don't know how high your particular pony can jump, but other ponies have gotten over large obstacles without a problem.

  15. It varies on the pony's conformation, ability, training etc and also on the rider. I've known (and ridden) 13.2hh ponies that can jump higher than 17hh horses. 1metre could be her limit, or she could have much more scope. My advice is to consult your instructor, who will know the horse personally. The important thing to remember is not to overface her or she will become scared of jumping.
