  1. It's based on distance; that is, how far you'll be sitting away from the TV.  With a 50 inch, it's probably best to be sitting a minimum of 10 feet away to get the best overall picture quality.

Look at the link below and scroll all the way to the middle - there's a chart showing what size TV you buy and the distance recommended.

By the way, the TV on that link, the Samsung, is the one I'm purchasing ^^

  2. To determine the best height, rather than distance from the screen:

Sit in the chair where you will normally view your TV. Look at the wall where your TV will be placed  If you generally use a recliner, use it. Eye level (without much head tilting) should be 1/3 to 1/2 the way from the top of the screen. (obviously the closer you are to the TV the lower the placement will need to be to avoid having to tilt your head) I just "eyeballed it" this way, put a post-it note on the wall, went back to check it,  made one adjustment and viola, when I mounted my TV it was "perfect".

    No neck strain.

  3. I think lower is better for your neck (think of the old floor model console TVs) but that might not be practical with a coffee table or other furniture blocking people's views.

  4. Hi Joe.

It's all about your preferences... For me it's about being comfortable - in my recliner, stretched back and - waiting for NEXT FOOTBALL SEASON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Have a Great Day
