I've been practicing bumping my volleyball, and am planning to try out for my school's jv team this year. I was just wondering how many feet above your arms should the ball go when you bump it.

  1. well when you bump the ball it should be pritty low anything higher than your chest set it :)

  2. it really depends.

if it's on the 3rd pass, you want it to go high enough that it will make it over the net, obviously.

if it's the first pass you should aim it toward the setter.

it should be 1 or 2 feet above the setters head.

if it's the second pass you either want to bump it to another teamate, over, or the setter that way the can set or tip it over.

it's kinda hard to explain, it should just be high enough where another teamate an hit it.

but never swing your arms or hit it so high it goes in the rafters.

  3. It's height of the ball should be about four feet above your setters arms  at its highest point.

  4. it should go about 10 feet in the air and 3 feet off the net.

    thats what coach says :]

  5. I can tell you one thing, it shouldn't go up in the gym's rafters like my teammates send it, lol. Like the first girl said, I would say it should go 1 or 2 feet above the setters head. You want a nice high, but not too high bump so the setter can get to it easily so if you feel you aren't bumping it high enough with the 1 foot, depending how tall your setter is, try bumping it a little harder/higher. You can also ask the setter how how they like it because some of them have preferences about the bumps they receive.
