I have watched the price of gas double, and at the same time down town traffic has increased. We are addicted, OPEC has us by the hind end.

How high do you think the price of gas will have to get before we will notice a reduction in traffic?

  1. there wont be any reduction. There might be smaller cars on the road but not less cars. Atleast were not as bad a europe yet I think there about 10 dollars a gallon. But if the economy goes where its starting to go people might not have the jobs or money to drive.

  2. I heard on CNN, that the oil prices should keep going up until it reaches 200 dollars a barrel (Which is not a fifty gallon drum) but is less than 30 gallons.

Also they said that by 2010 gas prices should be about $8.00 per gallon.

However; giving the fact that a dollar in the USA is only worth a dime (10 - cents) and going back to the middle - sixties when I graduated, and had my first car, I was paying about 0.38 cents per gallon for regular gas.

So if you take the value of the dollar from now to then, you'll see that (the buying power of the dollar against the  gold market), gas has in fact only raised about two cents per gallon. Our stock market is also reflecting this value here in the USA. So your question should have been something like the following. If the dollar value increases will this bring down the prices of gas, food, milk, etc...

I'm not a number cruncher for the government, but  I do believe that there is a direct link to our buying power.

Also, this may not be the correct answer to you question but a different way of looking where the real problem might be.

    This is just my opinion

  3. The fact that some, if not most Americans can't take public transportation, or walk to work means it cant slow down. Some people like myself have built, or bought homes out of town to get away from everything and are paying the price now. I truly feel bad for the people that work for minimum wage, or even 10 or 12 dollars an hour.  I don't know how anyone can continue to do it.
