  1. From the mid 60 to at least 115 degrees, the bounce will not change.  At 180, the covers will get soft and they will bounce less.  At 38 degrees they will bounce less than at 28.

So, how do I know this?  These were the exact temperatures we put a few dozen balls through some testing for a 7th grade science experiment.

  2. Don't even try this.

    Just say "no".

  3. Golf balls travel farther when they are warm.

Somewhat true. Colder temperatures do decrease a ball's velocity more than warm temperatures; although, the air temperature affects distance much more significantly than the temperature of the ball. The moral of the story is don't bother putting the ball in the oven before teeing off. Your pocket will do just fine. You could even put one of those instant hand warmers in your pocket to increase the heat. A two-piece ball will have a little faster initial velocity off the clubface in cold weather, so keep that in mind next time the frost is on the ground.

    Fore!!

But if you insist on putting in the oven try 175 for 10-12 minutes.

  4. Put it on the upper rack.

  5. Forget the oven and go straight to the microwave oven and cut the time to 2 1/2 min - then have your kid or your wife hold the ball until it cools so that when they hold their hand up they will look like a "Doodle Bop"
