  1. Well it is not how tall the horse is, it is about if they are built for it. I have a paint horse that jumps 4ft6 and he is only 15.3hh. Then I had a TB that was 16.2hh that would only jump 3ft3. Also not only does the horse have to be built for it but you have to be able to ride him to the jump and give him the courage to jump the jump!

  2. First of all, a horse can not be 15.4 hands. Is he 16.0 hh?

Anyway, I do not believe height plays a huge role in jumping ability. With proper training, most horses and ponies (that are built right) can jump. Some horses just have prettier form then others. Just be careful, train with a professional, and wear a helmet ;-)

  3. I RIDE ONE TOO! I wouldn't go any higher than 2'6". I have done 3 and a half. Baaaaaaaad experience.

  4. Do you mean 16HH? I agree with Terrific Tay and Amy L . The pony at our yard is 14.2HH Welsh Cob and can jump 5ft!  In fact my coloured horse was a heavy build (shire cross Irish Draught) 15.1HH and she can clear 4ft!
